Once upon a time in a cozy fruit basket, there lived a plump and jolly banana named Benny. Benny was no ordinary banana; he had a big dream – he wanted to become a superhero!
Every day, Benny would sit next to his fruity friends – Lucy the apple, Oscar the orange, and Sammy the strawberry – and tell them about his superhero aspirations.
Lucy the apple would giggle and say, “Oh, Benny, you’re already a-peeling!”
Oscar the orange would chime in, “Yeah, you make us all split with laughter!“
Sammy the strawberry would add, “And you’re definitely the top banana in this basket!“
But Benny wasn’t convinced. He wanted to be a real superhero with a cape and superpowers.
One sunny morning, as Benny basked in the warm rays of the kitchen, he heard a cry for help coming from the refrigerator. It was a tiny blueberry named Bella, trapped under a giant tub of yogurt!
Without a second thought, Benny sprang into action, or rather, he wobbled into action since bananas don’t really “spring.” With all his might, he pushed and shoved until he toppled the yogurt container and rescued Bella.
Bella was grateful and said, “You’re my hero, Benny! You came to my berry rescue!“
Word of Benny’s heroic deed spread throughout the fruit basket, and soon everyone was calling him “Banana Man.” Benny felt like the proudest banana in the world.
From that day on, Benny would practice his superhero moves. He would swing from the vine (well, sort of), slip and slide (that was easier), and even make funny banana faces to make everyone laugh.
One day, as Benny was perfecting his superhero pose, the fruit basket started to shake. The refrigerator door opened, and a giant hand reached in to grab Benny.
It was Timmy, the little boy who lived in the house. He had a big smile on his face as he peeled Benny and took a bite.
Benny was shocked but then realized something important. He may not have superpowers, a cape, or a catchy superhero name, but he had made someone happy, and that was a superpower all on its own.
As Benny became part of Timmy’s snack, he thought, “Maybe being a delicious and funny banana is the best superpower of all!“
And so, our dear Benny, the banana who dreamed of being a superhero, learned that sometimes, being yourself and bringing joy to others is the most heroic thing you can do.
The end.
Moral of the story: Embrace who you are and find joy in making others happy, because sometimes, being yourself is the most heroic thing you can do!
Hi Fleeky,
Well done. This is a simple story with. a powerful message that I enjoyed reading. Although Benny wanted to be a super hero, he finally accepted his fate and learned from that.
When you accept who you are, your real purpose in life will unfold. Ànd you will be happier for it, which is heroism in a nutshell.
Blessings always,
Maxine 🙂
Dear Maxine,
Yes, heroism and blessing in a nutshell. There is no small work, only small minds. When done with love and contentment they transcend time and space.
Have a blessed time
